The BCU are the governing body of paddlesports in the UK. It's the BCU who dictate how each personal and coaching award is measured and assessed. We offer a range of nationally recognised awards (one star / two star) each one a pre-requirement for the next. To find out more about the BCU veiw their website. 

These courses provide a progression through paddlesports from complete beginner to expert. They are personal awards where candidates are assessed on their technique and experience.

• 1 Star Award - Basic skills and safety in canoes & kayaks
• 2 Star Award - Leadership, flat water skills & safety
• 3 Star Awards - Here the courses split into the various disciplines and become much more focused and indepth
• 4 Star Awards - Leading on grade 2 white water.  2 day training and 2 days assessment 
• 5 Star Awards - Leader in advanced conditions

The British coaching scheme also has five levels. Level 1's coach the basics to a wide audience up to level 5's who coach at national level with olymipic athletes. 

The star awards provide a structured progression into paddlesports. If you've never paddled before the BCU one star provides a fantastic introduction to both canoes and kayaks.

If you already would like to specialise in sea kayaking or white water we also offer specific entry level courses in both disciplines.

For 2008 we are offering two stars over 8 weekday evenings, why not join us after work though the summer.
