
The British Canoe Union 3 Star award involves a high level of personal skills and leadership. Paddlers at this standard can consider themselves intermediate Kayakers or Canoeists. You’ll cover the skills and knowledge focused on a specific discipline and environment. Training courses (2 days) and assessments (1 day) will take place on Moderate water as part of a lead group.
You will need experience at the standard, although a Two Star is not always required. Speak to us if you’re unsure of the suitability of this course for you.
3 Star Sea Kayak CourseWe offer sea training and assessment throughout the year. Courses take place in Dorset where you’ll cover aspects of planning and navigation as well as on the water skills in moderate sea conditions. This is a perfect course for club paddlers and those looking to move forward with their paddling.

3 Star Inland Kayak CourseWe run 3 Star Inland training and assessment throughout the autumn and winter months. Three Star Inland Kayak courses are based in Dartmoor or North Wales. The 3 Star will cover stroke work, rescues and scenarios whilst enjoying river trips on grade 2 water.

3 Star Open Canoe CourseWe run training courses and assessments throughout the autumn and winter months. Three Star Canoe courses take place in Hampshire with one day on open water on Beaulieu River and a second on a moving water river to cover all the aspects of the Three Star Canoe award.
