Foundation Safety & Rescue Training

Canoe and kayak foundation safety and recues training for paddlers on flat water.

This British Canoe Union award will give you the fundamentals to keep yourself and others safe on the water. You’ll learn a range of rescues and techniques in a variety of craft. A great course to improve your confidence or prepare a level 1 coach course.

This course is open to paddlers at the two star standard. It’s not a course to learn to paddle on rather you’ll learn lifeguarding, risk assessing and on the water rescues. There is no assessment on this course, an assessment of your skills would take place on attending a  level 1 coach course.

Foundation Safety and Rescue courses take place on the glorious Beaulieu River in The New Forest, Hampshire. Enjoy the nature reserve as you develop your skills on the water.

We supply all the equipment you’ll need to be comfortable on the water but if you have your own kit please feel free to bring it along.

• Meet at Bucklers Hard on Beaulieu River

• Bring a packed lunch & hot drink or plenty of water (depending on the weather)

• You will need closed toe shoes and a fleece to wear on the water
